Prolapsed Disc or slipped disc refers to a condition in which all or part of a spinal disc gets forced through a weakened part of the disk. The spinal discs are soft, fluid-filled structures that provide a cushioning effect to the vertebrae. Any condition that causes slippage of these discs can cause pain and discomfort in the back region. If a nerve is compressed by the herniated disc, then it may result in pain in the regions supplied by the affected nerve. This condition is often referred to as a herniated disc.
